The Second Annual Zach Fest Memorial Concert at Redwood City’s historic Fox Theatre, 2215 Broadway Street, is Saturday, April 8, 2023, at 7 pm (doors at 6 pm). Its theme, “Music, Kindness, Community,” captures the spirit of Zachary Ernest Davis, a Redwood City native son, gifted musician, and passionate fan of music and community who passed away in 2020 at age 28 from an accidental opioid overdose.
A successful concert event will raise funding to provide 40,000 meals for local families through Second Harvest Food Bank of Silicon Valley, while providing health, nutrition and addiction recovery information.
The Zach Fest demonstrates how music brings people together, just as Zach believed and experienced in his short lifetime. The concert will feature live music by Sons Of The Soul Revivers (Gospel), Emad Bonakdar (Persian Fusion), Sweet HayaH (Earthly-Retro-Soul), and Garrick Davis World Blues, with intermittent talks on health, nutrition, and addiction recovery by local professionals in these fields.
Zach’s own experiences in addiction recovery and the people he met there inspired him to seek out and help others in need, and he touched many lives on that journey. He had just completed his first year in the University of San Francisco Nursing Program with a 3.98 G.P.A. before suffering his fatal relapse.
Zach Fest was founded by Garrick Davis, Zach’s father and longtime Bay Area guitarist, singer, songwriter, producer and music educator, to celebrate Zach’s life and love for music and continue his aim to help people who have nowhere else to turn. “Zach’s love for music exploded during his preteen years and stoked my own creative energy,” Davis explains. “I can't help but believe Zach is giving his nod to this!”
Reserved seat tickets are on sale now at FOXRWC.com, and event information lives on its dedicated webpage at GDWorldBlues.com. The event is fiscally sponsored by the St. James Community Development Corp., Inc. Proceeds will support Second Harvest Food Bank and Zach’s Cares. Zach’s Cares is being developed as a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization to provide early health and nutrition information through music-driven presentations in schools and community events in Redwood City, and eventually, throughout the Bay Area.
